Glebe Old Boys took the lead on 15 minutes when an Ian Bellingham cross was turned into his own net by a Villagers defender. Glebe’s second came just 10 minutes later when a Greer cross was fumbled into his own net by the Villagers goalkeeper.

Glebe Old Boys by this stage had started to pass the ball quickly and neatly and their impressive play was rewarded when they scored their third goal when Player/Manager Bellingham tapped in after despite a great initial save by Best in the Villagers nets from a Greer header.

Despite the errors and the scoreline, the Villagers to their credit never gave up and had a couple of opportunities to reduce the deficit. However, they were unable to beat Riley in the Glebe goal.

Glebe added yet another before half time when Holmes lashed in from the edge of the box to leave it 4 - 0 at the interval.

The second half started in much the same way as the first half with Glebe Old Boys on top and never looking in any danger of losing this game. The half was only five minutes old when Shepherd ran onto a through ball from Elder and he cooly slotted it past the advancing Best in goal to make sure there was no doubts where the points were going to.

Glebe’s sixth and final goal came when Elder collected a great pass from McKee and slotted the ball into the corner of the net past the keeper.

Glebe then saw out the rest of the game with relative ease to take all three points and maintain their good run of form.

Player Manager Ian Bellingham was delighted with his side’s performance, commenting: “All credit to the Villagers. they kept going to the end and didn’t give up. This was yet another strong performance from us this weekend. I am especially pleased to keep a clean sheet and to keep scoring good goals at the other end.”

On Saturday Glebe Rangers Old Boys are at home in Megaw Park to Finn McCools. kick off is 11am.
