Goalless draw for Bann Thirds during their first away fixture

Belfast Harlequins II’s 0

Banbridge III’s 0

Banbridge Thirds travelled to Deramore Park for their first away fixture of the season to face Belfast Harlequins Seconds who had been relegated from Junior one.

Banbridge welcomed Ritchie McMullan and Josh Rowe into the squad but were missing the injured Peter McKnight. Banbridge started strongly with Jake Rowe and James Brown dominating in midfield with a couple of opportunities going astray. Gary Dean and Craig Kennedy were causing the Harlequins defence problems and Craig Kennedy was unlucky to see his reverse stick shot rebound off the post to safety. Harlequins grew into the game with the Bann back four having to repel some strong counter attacks towards the end of the first half.

The second half opened up at a frantic pace with the game going from end to end. Robbie Scott was creating some good opportunities from his marauding runs from left back but Bann struggled to test the Harlequins keeper. Harlequins won a couple of short corners but were unable to convert with Andy Adair making a strong save from the second corner. Both teams pushed for a winner but were unable to convert and the game finished in a goalless draw. Bann Thirds entertain Annadale thirds next Saturday at home at 4pm.
