The throw in was won by Tullylish midfielder Diarmuid O’Kane and he delivered quickly to John McAreavey who sent it over the bar for the first score.

A sideline kick from Shannon Drainey once again caught McAreavey on the run and again he slotted the ball over the bar.

Loughinisland came back with three points in succession before Tullylish’s backline closed the Loughinisland attack and Chris McGovern set Pete Convery up for a point. Two attacks later from the home team resulted in weak goals but they were goals all the same and Tullylish faced an uphill battle.

Chris Magee dispossessed an advancing Loughinisland forward and found John McAreavey well placed to take a point. Davy Corbett cut through the middle of the field and clawed back another point to put Tullylish within three scores of the opponents by the end of the first half.
