On Friday evening, the senior squad of Calum Ferguson, James Richardson, Michael Evans and Andrew McLean combined to win gold medals in both the 200m freestyle and medley relays, beating hot favourites RBAI and Sullivan Upper into second and third place. James Richardson picked up a silver medal in the individual 100m freestyle final and Michael Evans swam an excellent 100m backstroke to gain a bronze medal.
On Saturday morning the junior relay squad of Niall Evans, Owen Montgomery, Albert Dallas and Liam Webb was unlucky to finish just outside the medals in a very competitive field and many personal best times were achieved in the individual events. Our year 8 swimmers Harry Mitchell, Max McClarty and Liam Webb have another two years as juniors and will no doubt be competing for medals in the near future.

The intermediate relay squad of Thomas Kelly, Alistair Telfer, John January and Liam finished in fourth place in both events and Thomas swam an excellent individual 100m freestyle to gain fifth place in the final from a field of over forty swimmers.
The senior squad of James Richardson, Calum Ferguson, Michael Evans, Andrew McLean and Thomas Kelly is now in heavy training for the annual trip to London to compete in the British Schools’ Championships in mid-March. The Olympic pool is the venue for this year’s event and will be an inspirational setting to cap off yet another very successful year for the CAI swimming team.
