Gold medallist Michael shows Coe paralympic prowess

SEBASTIAN Coe, Chair of the London 2012 Organising Committee, paid a special visit to Northern Ireland this week where he met with local athlete Michael McKillop.

As part of the London 2012 Nations and Regions programme, Lord Coe visited Dundonald Primary School to mark the 40th school in Northern Ireland to participate in Disability Sports NI’s ‘5 Star Disability Sports Challenge’. Golden boy McKillop, who won the 800 metres in the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, gave a presentation on the innovative education project designed to increase awareness of disability sport and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Funded by the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure and supported by the Department of Education, the 5 Star project aims to contribute to the legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games by increasing children’s awareness and understanding of disability.
