Gold rush for Cairndhu rowers

MEMBERS of Cairndhu Rowing Club are celebrating after they scooped 10 sets of medals at the All-Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships in County Cork at the weekend.

The local crews were delighted to see all their hard work in training pay off at the Courtmacsherry races, as they blasted their way to the club’s most successful medal haul at the event in recent times.

There were gold medals for the senior ladies, the intermediate men, the pre-veteran ladies and also for Lisa Cameron in the Fisa singles.

The Under-16 boys also came up with the goods in their race, bring home a bronze from their event.

Other medal wins included silvers for the senior ladies in the Open Classic, and for Adrian Boreham in the men’s singles.

Cairndhu committee member Debbie Hanna told the Larne Times: “We are absolutely delighted with our success at the weekend. It made it extra-special, in the club’s 30th anniversary year, to see the the juniors rejuvenated and to have such great support from the members.”
