GOLF: Bid now for McDowell and McIlroy's golf shoes

RYDER Cup heroes Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy are putting their best feet forward for local children's charity Barnardo's by offering the chance to own a pair of their signed golf shoes.

Graeme's Footjoy classics were worn at last year's UBS Hong Kong Open and Rory's are replicas of those he wore at the St Andrew's Open earlier this year.

The shoes are on display at Barnardo's Coleraine shop at Stone Row and are being auctioned with bids starting at 200 per pair.

Sarah said: "We're over the moon that golfing superstars Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy have donated their shoes to Barnardo's.

Their support means so much to the charity and all the money we raise from the sale of their shoes will go directly back to helping less advantaged children in Northern Ireland.

"We are expecting a lot of interest – especially given their recent success in the Ryder Cup, Graeme's US Open win at Pebble Beach and Rory's success at St Andrew's.

"We also hope the shoes will encourage more people to give to their local Barnardo's shop. Shoes are one of our most popular sellers so we'd encourage everyone to follow Graeme and Rory and pass on any quality unwanted or unworn shoes for us to sell."

The closing date for bids is November 26.
