Golf club 100th anniversary marked with special dinner

Saturday night saw the climax of the anniversary celebrations with the Centenary Dinner.

And what a night! The clubhouse was packed. The special guests were Ivor McCandless, the President of the Golf Union of Ireland, and Bridget McCaw, the President of the Ladies Golf Union.

Both spoke very eloquently, congratulating Banbridge Golf Club on reaching its centenary. They had high praise for the club’s achievements over the years.

Banbridge Golf Club has produced several international players over its 100 years and won many trophies but the most endearing aspect of the club remains its friendliness and family atmosphere.

The club captain, Declan Dooher, held everyone’s attention as he outlined the foundation and development of the golf club.

It was most interesting. It just made everyone feel so proud to be a member of such a great club.

A lot of preparation had gone into the planning of the Centenary Dinner and, thankfully, everything went off just perfectly.

Here’s to the next 100 years!
