Golf Club are on course for title

THE Golf Club took a giant step to securing the McLean Bookmakers First Division title with this victory.

They now need just one point from their remaining two matches to take the Championship.

The home side never struggled in this match as they got off to the perfect start with Chris O’Sullivan taking the first of a four frame run. He was quickly followed by Jim Matthews, Johnny Ward and Kevin Smyth.

The Castle produced a mini revival as Ryan Taylor and Kris McStay pulled two frames back but the Golf Club got back to winning ways through John Brush and Rory Leonard.

Shepherds 6

Shepherds did their bit to make sure that their battle against the Golf Club this week will still have a say as to were the league title will rest.

Russell Connell and Mark Doolan gave the home side a quick 2-0 lead. P Haughey pulled one back for the coach.

Shepherds then went into overdrive as Jason Hamill started a three frame winning run to give the points to Shepherds. He was followed up by Kat Wilson and Neil Monaghan. S Blackwood registered another frame for the Coach before Stevie Shepherd finished off the night’s scoring.

Halfway House 6

Donacloney Legion 2

The Halfway have now finished off any chance that the Legion had of even finishing as runners up.

The home side have had a great second half to the season. N McAlinden and M Snoddy shared the opening two frames.

The Halfway then won the next five frames through D McAlinden, A McCarten, D Mulligan, M Wilson and A Meccaw. N Wilson took a last frame consolation for the Legion.

Hawthorn Rovers 4

Very little seperates these two teams in the league and this result proves how close they are.

There was never any more than one frame between them all night. The Hawthorn winners were John Travers, K McKee, D Armstrong and G McAvoy. The Market’s winners were T Loughlin, C Beggs, M Jardine and R Jardine.

Mulhollands 2

Imperial 6

A good away win for the Imperial as Mulhollands continue to build for a run at the title next season.

The away side took a comanding 4-0 lead through D McCreanor, D Noble, G McElhern and A Corbett. N McMurray lifted the home side with victory in the fifth. Buffer Kerr secured the points by winning the next frame and he was followed up by A McConville. A Neill took the final frame of the night.
