GOLF: King wins at City of Derry after break of tie finish

Damian King was the winner on a break of tie in this weeks Sunday Society at City of Derry.

The nine handicapper scored 28 points, Ciaran Grant (16) with 28 points was second after a BOT finish and Rob Jefferson (07) claimed third spot.

While after winning Redcastle’s Winter League Paul Murray has started the New Year in the same way he approached the Winter League.

Paul finished took first place in week one scoring 29 points over twelve holes.

Week two seen Michael Havlin taking first place scoring 29 points and his brother Willie scoring 27 points to take second place, Paul Murray scored 26 points to take third place.

Members are reminded that Redcastle Golf Clubs Annual General Meeting will be held this Friday January 22nd at 7pm.

All members are invited to attend.

While Foyle Golf Club (Ladies’ Branch) Annual General Meeting will be held in the Club’s Earhart Room on Wednesday February 10th, at 7.30pm.

Notices of Motions for discussion must be made in writing to the Honorary Secretary by 21st January.

Nominations of Officers and Members of the General Committee of the Ladies’ Club must be made 14 days before the AGM.

The nomination form has been posted in the ladies’ locker room.

Week twelve of the Foyle Sunday Society had another large turnout in near perfect conditions for scoring.

Former society skipper Paul McEleney (12) certainly made full use of the conditions as he negotiated the Ballyarnett winter layout in one over par to post an outstanding winning score of 49 points, Mark McCloskey second with a fine score of 43 points and Cormac Cassidy finished third with 42 points. The Easter Egg competitions went to Peter Cassidy and Paul Maxwell.

Rodney Willis was the lucky holder of the winning ticket in the Foyle Golf Club One To Five Hundred Draw on Saturday and received the winners prize of £500.

This week the Pauls Butchers Spring League Qualifying and Easter Egg competitions continue daily, while Sunday Society takes place at the weekend.
