GOLF: Martin's away day victory at North West

Foyle Sunday Society Skipper Michael Henry held his Away Day at North West Golf Club and the large travelling party enjoyed a decent day with the Lisfannon Links in pristine condition.

Six handicapper Damien Martin produced an excellent one over par round for his winning score of 41 points.

The Category 0-10 went Gary McElroy (8) after he scored 37 points, Sean Sands (13) won the category 11-16 after finishing with 39 points and Sean McEleney (19) with 34 points won the category 17+.

The front nine went to Charlie McDermott (13) after he scored 22 points and Ciaran O’Doherty (11) with 20 points was the best on the back nine.

Meanwhile at the Redcastle Ladies Golf competition, Gena Porter (19) came out top again in the Portstewart Clothing Company Trophy on Monday, after scoring 33 points. Second was Audrey McGurk (28) and Mary McArthur (19) was third.

There will be a Club Confined Medal Stroke competition next Monday with draws at 10am and 5pm.
