GOLF: Team Six move into pole position at Foyle GC

At the mid-point in the Pauls Butchers Spring League qualifying at Foyle, with the Teams now having returned five cards, the leadership has once again changed.

Team Six consisting of John Logue, Cormac Cassidy, Albert Gurney and Kieran Duffy having accumulated 464 points from their five cards and now lead.

Team Seven of Robert Ewing, David Wilson, Declan Ryan and Brendan Gallagher are three points behind, while Team Eight of Kevin O’Kane, John McMonagle, Anthony McMonagle and Tommy Young are currently in third spot on 459 points.

The prize winners on week 16 of the Foyle Sunday Society were decided after a three way 41 points break of tie with 16 handicapper Eamon O’Kane taking top honours virtue of his superior back nine, Kevin McDermott and Ciaran O’Doherty finished second and third respectively.

Foyle Sunday Society members dates for your Diary: - Golfer of the Year competitions end Sunday 13th March; Michael Henry Sunday Society Captains Day 20th March and Sunday Society Captain’s Away Day 3rd April to North West Golf Club.

This week the Pauls Butchers Spring League and Easter Egg continues daily, while the Foyle Sunday Society competition takes place at the weekend.

Meanwhile on a wet and windy Prehen course on Sunday, Paul Concannon was victor this week with 35 points over 15 holes, one ahead of David Spence who in turn was one ahead of Fred Young.

The ever consistent Fred Young with 36 points beat Brian Mulgrew by one point with club captain, Clive Brolly in third place in last weeks City of Derry GC Thursday Society competition.
