Ace for Dianne at 12th

On Tuesday the ladies continued to battle in windy conditions but, Christine Hagan fired an impressive 39 points to take Mrs Georgie Hogan’s prize.

Christine toured the first 12 holes in 3 over par before coming off the rails a bit, with a double bogey, but she held her nerve and fought back with a birdie at the 15th to see in her score.

As some of our teams are facing tough matches in the next few weeks the team captains will be delighted to see Christine playing well as she edges ever closer to the magic single handicap number.

With Christine taking the top nett prize the gross was a very tightly contested affair with Dianne Patterson just beating Sian Mulholland and Fiona Cummins on the count back. Dianne’s back nine would have been hard to beat as she scored the first hole in one of the year, in the ladies section, when she aced the 12th.

Dianne was playing with the very competitive Heather Shaw and while suitably impressed with Dianne’s hole in one Heather wasn’t going to let her take all the glory and she promptly got the only two of the day, also at the 12th, so the two players played the hole in three between them.

Unfortunately as often happens Dianne followed up her ace with a ding at the next which probably cost her the first prize but she won’t have been too disappointed.

May Baxter won section one with 35 points. May played her usual steady golf, and as we all know when she gets her short game going she can be hard to beat.

Another lady who regularly features in the prizes claimed section two with 38 points and that was Eileen McCann.

With only one ding on her card Eileen had a very tidy round and was able to not only win a prize but take a shot off her handicap.

Lily Woods has had a quiet season so far but came into her own on Tuesday to win section three with 36 points. Again just the one ding marred Lily’s card so hopefully this will mark the start of a good spell for her.
