Aidan hit five pars and a birdie in the first nine to reach the turn with an amazing net score of 8 under par and when he reached the 15th, stroke index 1, he was sitting on 11 under, and then, disaster struck.

After hitting his ball out of bounds he played another poor shot and when he three putted, he finished the hole with an eight.

Many a player would have collapsed after this but not Aidan, he pulled himself together and birdied the next and with a par on the last he finished with that amazing score of 55 nett.

A triple bogey at the third didn’t give Sam Thompson (21) the best of starts but a brilliant birdie at the 7th brought him back into contention and he reached the turn with a credible 29 net (4 under).

Sam thought he had completely blown his chances when he started the back nine with an 8 but like Aidan he kept his cool and with a string of 4 pars he retrieved the situation, finishing in second with a net 59.

Four players finished on 6o nett but it was Past Captain John Greeran (15) who took the third prize after the count-back.
