Alan wins the club competition

The winner of the club competition on Saturday at Silverwood Golf Club was Alan Beattie with 40 points.

He had 21 points on the front nine with one birdie at the first and three pars at the fourth, seventh and eighth holes with three single bogeys and a no score at the third. His back of 19 points consisted of one par at the 13th, one double bogey at the 16th and the remaining holes played in one over par for a two point victory.

In second place was Martin O’Hagan with 38 points. He had 21 points on the front nine with one birdie at the first, five pars at the second, third, fourth, fifth and ninth holes, two bogeys at the sixth and eighth holes and a no score at the seventh. His back nine of 17 points included one birdie at the 17th, two pars at the 14th and 15th, one double bogey at the 16th, a no score at the 12th and the remaining holes played in one over par.

In third place with 36 points was Finbar Headley.

The gross prize was won by the previous week’s competition winner Paul Gilmore with a gross 77.

Fourth place went to Hugo Funes, again with 36 points. In fifth place was Kieran McDonald with 35 points.

The winner of the seniors was Hugh Kennedy with 34 points.

Section winners: 0-12, John Mc Caffery, 35pts; 13-18, Shaun Stevenson, 35pts; 19-28 Gerald Totton, 35pts.

The club singles and doubles competitions were played on Sunday afternoon

The junior final was between Darragh McCann and Patrick Jordan with Patrick winning 3 and 1. The singles final was between Domimnic Marsden and Gavin McCabrey, with Dominic coming out on top with a 4 and 3 win.

The doubles final was between Mark Jordan and Kevin Munster, playing Shane O’Neill and Damian Mc’Dowell with Mark and Kevin winning 2 and 1.
