Alan, a new member to the club last year, has been playing well consistently over the last couple of months finishing third in the Winter league.

His scores in the first nine were a bit of a mixed bag with a couple of single bogeys, a double bogey and a couple of pars. The back nine was much more steady with pars at 10, 11, 14 and 17 but he nearly blew away with a double bogey on the last.

Second place was taken by David Hilland (23) with 39 points. David didn’t get off to the greatest of starts with double bogeys at one and three, but with a high handicap the main thing is to keep scoring at each hole and that he did except for a triple bogey at ninth.

Third place was taken by Raymond Rodgers (14) with 38 points after an excellent round of steady scores.

Three pars in the front nine and four pars in the back piled on the points. But for the double bogey on the 15th he could have finished higher up the leaderboard. Alan Crockard (6) won Best Gross 70.

Next week’s competition is for the PGA Tankard.

They had every right to be confident as they came out easy winners by 6-1 and now move forward into the next round against Castlehume GC in Co Fermanagh.
