He has played some outstanding golf this year for relatively modest reward, but his level par round, with birdies at holes two and three and bogeys at four and 14, represented 41 points, off five, and was sufficient for him to record a long overdue victory.

Keith Percy took second place with 40 points off seven. Birdies at the first, fourth and fifth moved him to three under but any thoughts of a new course record would prove premature as he had bogeys at the sixth and eighth. A homeward 39 was steady but lacked the birdie which might have seen him through to victory.

The gross prize went to Timmy Cummins with 34 gross points with Gary Clarke also having 34 gross points but he was pipped on the back nine.

Gareth Smyth took third place with 40 points off 16. The low section went to Colin Robb with 39 points off 12. Also on 39pts were veteran Tom Woods and young Andrew Cummins.

Stephen Lennon lifted his first prize of the year when his 39 points, off 18, gave him the middle section. Willie Russell was beaten on the back nine. Andrew McKinless scored 38 points that was sufficient to give him the high section, just edging out Paul Carlin and Sean McEvoy on 37 points each.

Wednesday Sweep: 1, Kieran Kearney, 44pts; 2, John Richardson, 43pts; 3, Chris Best, 41pts.

Sunday Sweep: 1,, Chris Donald, 46pts; 2, Adam McCleary, 39pts; 3, Laurence Mitchell, 38pts.
