All tight at the top of the Foyle GC’s Golfer of the Year

The 2014 P & L Electrics Golfer of the Year Title at Foyle is turning out to be a very competitive event.

One point separates the leading two players after 28 rounds with the best 10 rounds counting and with 11 rounds still to play.

Martin Kivelehan on 386 points holds a slender one point lead over Martin Tope with the winner for the past three years Cormac McGeady back in fifth place with some work to do if he wants to retain his title.

Foyle’s Friday Open was claimed by Gerald Toland (13) with 42 points.

The Club Classic was a very competitive event with one point separating the leading three teams even after the hidden hole scores were added with Tony McGinley (9), Paul McLaughlin (8), Eugene Hillock (22) and Gary McKinney (13) taking top honors by a slender one point margin, after they scored 96 points.

Second spot was claimed by foursome John Jennings (8), Ciaran O’Doherty (12), Dermott Harkin (17) and Mark Doherty (17) and third place also on 95 points went to Philip Smyth (8), Kevin Crumley (12), Kevin Dunn (9) and George Fitzpatrick (18).

The Ladies winners were Anne Hamilton (12), Myra Gough (20), Christine McCafferty (31) and Sadie O’Kane (21) after they finished with 86 points, to claim the prize.

Today (Wednesday) the Crumley Construction Monthly Medal take place, while tomorrow and Friday Lady Captain Denise Callan’s Prizes to Gents (Play either day one card only) is down for decision.

On Saturday a Open Stableford competition sponsored by BHP Security Solutions takes centre stage, while on Sunday the Crumley Construction Monthly Medal will take place.
