Another win in successful season for Robin Bond

The standard of scoring was very high. Nine of the ten prizewinners had 40 points or better.

I asked someone who won the competition and they answered, “I think it was Robin Hood.” They got the Robin part correct but it was Robin Bond, playing off a 14 handicap.

Robin first came to prominence back in May when he finished third on Professional’s Day and then won the May Bank Holiday Medal. He should be well pleased with his season’s successes.

The runner-up was Joe Thompson (16) with 42 points. The maestro, Joe Glass, has tutored Joe and he has been a good pupil.

The low section was won by the juvenile captain, Michael Young (10) with 41 points.

Ross McCandless (8) was runner-up with 40 points.

Young Matthew Elliott (16) won the middle section with 40 points. Aaron Buchanan (16) was the runner-up, with 39 points.

Gordon Enderson (20) was the top man in the high section with 42 points. Norman Doak (18) was second with 40 points.

The great Rory Madeley (4) went round in level par 69 and he won the best gross prize. He finished one shot ahead of Damian Weir (5).

Eamon Galloway (18) was the best senior player on the day with 40 points.

There are always a few near misses.

John Fitzpatrick (18) had 40 points.

Joshua Crory (6), Harry Shannon (15), Brian Grimes (12), David Cherry (13) and Stephen Teggart (17) all had 39 points.
