Armstrong holds successful Captain's Day

FAUGHAN Valley's Lady Captain Margaret Armstrong held her Captain's Day, in near perfect conditions, on Saturday.

Claiming first place in the men's section went to Edwin Gallagher (16) after he scored 44 points, Trevor Peace (12) with 43 points claimed second and Robbie Martin (19) was third after a break of tie finish when he scored 42 points.

The front nine was won by John O'Neill after he scored 29 points and Martin Carlin with 23 points won the back nine, Ben Kilgore hit the longest drive and Eddie McColgan was nearest the pin, while James Linsay (5) with 29 points won the junveniles' section.

In the Ladies section Denise Callagn (22) with 43 points, second was Eileen Robb (18) after she scored 42 points and Frankie Barnett (29) with 36 points was third.

Buncrana member Helen White (30) with 43 points won the visitors' prize, while Newtownstewart's Anne Speirs (28) with 38 points won second in the visitors section.

Longest drive was Pascal Gallanagh, while the Buncrana lady was also nearest the pin. The front nine was claimed by Carla Totten and Catherine O'Neill won the back nine and the 36's handicap prize was won by Majella Heaney after she scored 30 points.
