Rosemary plays a lot of golf and everyone at the club is delighted to see her good golf continue in a year when she is particularly busy at home.

Lurgan will be hoping Rosemary has time to fit in some extra golf for the teams as no doubt team captains have an eye on her progress as the inter-club matches draw ever nearer.

The gross changed hands again this week with Maeve Cummins making her Tuesday debut for the year to take the best score of the day title.

Maeve had a tidy front nine but like so many on the course the cold took it’s toll on the back nine and her score slipped a bit, but her score of 23 gross points was still good enough to get her a prize.

Maeve’s playing partner was a new girl in Lurgan ranks, Lauren Banks, and members hope she enjoyed her first outing at Lurgan and look forward to meeting her in the coming weeks.

Not to be outdone by daughter Maeve, Fiona Cummins took the section one prize with 34 points.

Section two was a tightly contested affair with Debbie McCollum just pipping Geraldine Hickland on the better back nine when both recorded scores of 36 points.

Debbie started both nines with a ding but the rest of her play more than made up for these two slip ups and was strong enough to hold off Geraldine.

Section three went to Sheila Horner, with 37 points. A quick look at Sheila’s card again reveals that her front nine was better than the back but overall some good golf was played to ensure Sheila was “in the money” this week.

Two ladies just missed out on a prize in this section but scored a very credible 36 points and they were Pippy Clarke and Lily Woods.

The latest bridge results are as follows:

N/S. 1.A Creaney and U Crossey; 2.T Rae and S Pollock;

E/W1.A White and C. Stewart; 2.S O’Neill and M Patterson.
