Bann Lady Vice Captain Lorna wins the Endeavour Trophy

Lady Vice Captain Lorna Poots won the Endeavour Trophy when the ladies section at Banbridge Golf Club took to the green recently.

The ladies were out in great numbers on Tuesday June 19 all trying so hard to win the most beautiful Endeavour Trophy presented by the Whan family in memory of Denise Russell.

The weather unfortunately won out in some cases, as many of the early players were called in from the course because of the thunder and lightning.

Vice Captain Lorna Poots was the overall winner with a score of 35 points, beating Megan Whan on count back.

Megan took runner up spot beating Karen Curran on count back back.

Section winners were as follows:

A Karen Curran 35 points beating Mildred Hodgett on count back.

B Mary Jo Thompson 34 points.

C Ada Lavery 34 points beating Ann Blevins on countback.

Golfer of the year points:

6 Lorna Poots.

5 Megan Whan.

4 Karen Curran.

3 Mildred Hodgett.

2 Ann Mairs.

1 Ada Lavery.

57 ladies played and competition scratch score was 71.

Team News

Minor Team - Lorna Poots’ good luck didn’t extend to her team as they went down to Carnlea away from home last Thursday. That means that they are now out of the completion but put up a great run this year. Well done ladies.

Junior Team - Fionnuala Crossey and her team had much better luck against Larne last Saturday winning 4 matches out of 5 and now go to Larne for the return leg needing to win only 2 matches. Good luck ladies.

Cowdy Team - The Cowdy team, captained by past Lady Captain Robena had a narrow victory at Lurgan and now go forward to play Rockmount on June 16. Good luck ladies.
