Bann miss out on top two

This is a gala occasion. All the teams enter ten players and it is a shotgun start. Everyone finishes at the same time and they all sit down to a sumptuous meal. The speeches and prize presentation follow. It’s a great day out for all those fortunate to be selected.

The Banbridge team, captained by Dougie Stevenson, had an outside chance of finishing in second place. They gave it their best shot but, unfortunately, came up a little short.

Peter Hillen and Philip Strong were Banbridge’s two top scorers with 37 points each.

William McCandless and John Poots were next best, with 36 points each.

That gave Banbridge a team score of 146, which was very respectable.

Their overall team score over the ten rounds was 1390.

When the final tally was completed, Banbridge were in fourth place.

Lurgan were third with 1393 points. Omagh were second with 1402 points.

And, once again, Tandragee were the champions with 1421 points. That equates to 142 points per round and an average individual score of 35.5 points per round. That is marvellous consistency and Tandragee were deserving winners.

The other Banbridge players on the final day were Bobby Geddis, Ian Boyce, Merton McDowell, Seamus McGrath, Brian Mulholland and Dennis Lockhart.

Dougie Stevenson is determined that Banbridge will make the top two next season. We wish him well.
