This year the PGA of Ireland are determined to find out.

They have asked every golf club in the country to organise a putting competition for men, ladies and juveniles. The course will be over nine holes, three measuring four feet, three measuring eight feet and a further three measuring 20 feet.

All of the club winners will go to Dundalk Golf Club for the Grand Final near the end of September.

There are some amazing prizes to be won, including a golfing trip to Valderrama, the number one course in continental Europe.

The competition at Banbridge Golf Course has already taken place.

In the men’s section, there was a tie between Brian Mulholland and Johnny Ward. They both took 13 putts. Ryan Simpson was third, also with 13 putts.

In the ladies’ section, the winner was Mildred Hodgett with 16 putts. Fionulla Crossey was second, also with 16 putts and Denise McBrien was third with 17 putts.

In the juvenile section, the winner was Rory McMullan with 13 putts. Scott Nelson was second, also with 13 putts.

Could one of these players be off to Valderrama? Wouldn’t that be a wonderful way to end their season? Good luck to everyone.
