Three different competitions kept the golfers busy last week in the shape of a Club Stableford, a Monthly Medal and a Mixed Open Greensomes.

First up was the Club Stableford which was won by Andy Cameron who played superbly scoring an unbeatable 41 points which could have been much better had he not missed a few easy putts.

Liam Berryman claimed second place with an excellent score of 39 points and Jamie Vinnicombe took third place scoring 38 points. Kieran Berryman stepped it up another gear to win the gross prize and a few more points as he looked to stay at the top of the Golfer of the Year leaderboard.

Saturday saw a Monthly Medal played in mostly dry, blustery conditions and with the course playing long it was always going to be tough. Gary Campbell stepped up with a fine round of 76 gross and 66 net to take a well deserved victory.

Kevin Boyd claimed second place also with a fine round of net 66 and Stephen Mullan claimed third place with a net 67.

Andy Young kept up the pressure on Kieran Berryman as he won the best gross with a superb round of 71 net 67.

Golfer of the Year is now in its penultimate week and it’s fair to say either Kieran Berryman or Andy Young will be walking away with the treasured trophy.

Kieran improved his position this week with some excellent scoring midweek and remains at the top of the table. Andy also improved and is still right behind.

Both men will be going all out this week as the pressure mounts to score some more crucial points but will need top two finishes at least to improve.

Liam Berryman is still chipping away at the top two and sits comfortably in third place.

The course improvements are well underway at the moment and the Driving Range has seen the addition of some more yardage markers to help the budding Rory McIlroy’s out there improve their game.

Up next is a two day competition sponsored by PGA Professional Shaun Devenney and Captain Neville Martin will be hosting his annual away day at Greencastle GC.
