Big turnout at Prehen

OVER 40 teams competed in the McDaid, McCullough, Moore sponsored AM-Am team event at City of Derry over the weekend and with favourable weather scoring was of a high quality over the two days.

The second, third and fourth placed teams had double figure improvements over their first day’s score on their second day.

Consistency however had its own reward with the winning team of Darren Heaney (13), Gary Brown (11), Alan Bell (15) and Graham Robb (6) taking the top prize with scores of 93 and 94 for their 187 points winning total.

A break of tie went in favour of the runners up team of Vincent Devenney (10), Graham Hepburn (6), Eddie McMenamin (13) and Brian Burns (17), their fantastic second day score of 99 points plus their opening day 87 points giving them the edge over pre-tournament favourites Tony McCann (12), Eddie Maxwell (12), Tony Murray (25) and Martin Doherty (19) their scores of 88 and 98 leaving them in third place Kevin Qiugg (4), Stephen McKeegan (5), Paul Monaghan (20) and Maurice Quigg (19) improved their first day score of 87 by eleven points and duly took the fourth place with a 185 total.

Brian Long (7), George Jackson (13), Sean McKane (20) and Andy McFeeley (11) were the leaders after day one with a fine 94 points but they had to settle for that first day prize, after faltering badly on day two.

Eugene Hillick (21), Gary McKinney (10), David Hughes (18) and Tony McGinley (8) Foyle GC were the day two winners their 96 points being a huge 16 points improvement over their first day’s effort.
