Bradley wins Easter Open at Foyle event

THE Easter Monday Open Stableford sponsored by Calor Gas at Foyle Golf Club saw 100 plus competitors take to the Ballyarnett fairways and they enjoyed a course in fine condition but had to contend with a strong wind making scoring difficult, and it took a four way break of tie to decide the top three places.

Tommy Bradley (12) came out in first place virtue of his superior back of 21 points with Seamus O'Connor finishing second with Hugh Doherty in third place; Mark Doherty finished out of the prizes after the tie break - all four players finished with 36 points.

The gross winner was Stephen Martin after he scored 28 points, Noel Kiernan (18) from Otway won the visitor's prize after scoring 30 points.

The back nine went to Joseph Flanagan (12) after he scored 19 points, Lawerance Powell (22) with 34 points won the juvenile section, while Paul Hegarty was nearest the pin and Lorna Thompson (20) with 34 points won the ladies section.

Last Wednesday's Crumley Construction monthly medal saw Damien McKenna (2) with nett 68 claim the 0-11 category, Shane Bonner (13) with nett 66 won the 12-17 category after a BOT finish, while Lawerance Powell (22) with nett 61 secured the 18+ category.

In Saturday's popular PGA Pro/Am qualifier played in glorious summer like conditions the winner after a BOT finish was seven handicapper Paul Anderson, after he scored 40 points; second spot went to John Jennings (12) who also scored 40 points.

Mr Anderson will now represent the Club along with the Professional at the Heritage Golf Club in the area Final on Wednesday, May 5.

Members are reminded that Club fees are now over due and must be payed before competing for Competition prizes Optional insurance is also due and must be payed before April 30.

This week's club competitions get underway today (Wednesday) until Sunday with the Texaco Filling Station Bridgend sponsored Singles Qualifier down for decision (one card only), while on Friday the Over 50's competition takes centre stage.
