Brady treads winning path in Michelin event

The scores were top rate with the best card being returned by Adam Brady who, playing off a five handicap, posted a score of 44 points which, ona stroke basis, was three under par gross.

Adam’s front nine was made up of six pars plus birdies at the third, eighth and ninth, giving him 23 points.

He then added seven pars and a birdie at the 13th, while the only dropped shot of his round came at the 17th, leaving him level par for the second round as he added another 21 points to his total.

Second prize was won by Trevor Hamill (12) who scored 43 points, of which 23 came from the second nine.

His first nine contained five pars and four bogeys while the second nine was made up of six pars, a birdie on the last and dropped shots at the 10th and 16th, both of which are par three holes.

Alister Gilmour (12) took third nett prize with 41 points and on a better second nine hole total from John Kennedy.

Gilmour, after opening wit ha par, dropped three shots over the next two holes but went on to play the next six holes in level par for a total of 21 points. He started the back nine with four pars, only to drop a shot at each of the next four holes before concluding with another par. That last hole was particularly rewarding as he finished one point ahead of fourth placed Kennedy on countback after both had posted 41 points.

Sicteen-handicapper Kennedy scored five pars and four bogeys which converted into 22 points for the outward nine.

The second nine commenced with a bogey and worse foolowed with a costly ‘ding’ at 11 but he completed the remainder of his round iwth four bogeys, two pars plus a birdie at the 13th.

Fifth nett was won by junior member Callum Black (16) who has obviously learned well from his father, Raceview stalwart Gary. Callum scored 18 points on the way out and 22 on the way back.

The final nett prize went to Stephen Hazyes (12) who also scored 40 points, only to lose out over his second nine total.

Steven Smyth (4) returned to the best gross podium after playing the curse in two over par 70 shots. His card totalled 12 pars, four bogeys and he birdied the par three fourth and 14th.
