Brian produces above par display to win Bill Rainey Memorial competition

The Bill Rainey Memorial competition was scored by the competition playing against the par of each hole and the winner was Brian Logan (19) with a score of four up on par and he had a better second nine score from Ryan Kenny and Gary Stewart.

Brian was one down after the first hole but he followed that with six level with par and he scored a plus on the seventh and ninth.

Into the second nine with the minus he followed that with four holes level with par and the 13th, 14th, 16th and 18th.

Brian managed to score to finish with his card showing four up on par.

Runner up was Ryan Kenny (16) also being four up on par having scored seven holes up on par, eight level with par and the 6th, 13th and 17th were to be the only holes where he was down on par.

Gary Stewart (9) ended up on four up on par only to lose out over the back nine where he finished up level.

Gary’s card was made up of 12 holes level with par, five up on par and the only hole where he was down on par he was the 17th.

Gerald McCAnn (24) took the fourth prize with a score of three up on par having had seven holes level with par, seven holes up on par and Gerald was down on par on the 11th, 13th, 14th and 16th.

Fifth prize was won by club secretary Ken Herbison (20) with a return of two up on par having had 10 level par, five up on par with the only minuses being on the 1st, 8th and 10th and Ken’s back nine of two up wa good enough to put William Humphrey (15) into sixth place with him having been one up on each nine.

Humpreys card contained ten level with par, five up on par and the 4th, 11th and 13th were down on par.

The best gross card came from Four handicaper Gary Black who returned a score of one over on level versus par.

The Easter Sunday open stableford resulted in Mark McGAughey (21) notch up a winning total of 40 points having scored 21 on the first nine where MArk commenced his round with six bogeys to which he added a two of pars.

The second nine contained four single bogeys, three double bogeys, plus pars on the 16th and 17th for 19 on the way home.

Second prize went to Paul Shaw (19) who returned a total of 35 points of which 16 came from the front nine and four pars as the back nine was responsible for a sound total of 19 points, that despite having a non score on the par four 15th.

The Easter Monday Open was won by David Conway (25) with a total of 36 points and here again the result was decided over the second nine totals. Second place was taken by Michael Scroggie playing of a nine handicap.
