BUSHFOOT’S HUEY CUP GOES TO MATT

With his net score of 63 round Bushfoot Matt Colgan got hold of the Huey Cup at the weekend.

His birdie three at the third helped him to an outward nine score of 41 and although he started back with a few dropped shots another birdie three, at seventeen, saw him home in 39 shots in the event which was sponsored by Colin Coleman of Causeway Physio Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic in Coleraine. His gross of 80 netted down to the winning 63 which was three better than second placed Kenny McKillop.

Kenny also had a birdie three at the third on his way to 37 out. After the turn he slipped in a putt for three at the tenth to pave the way to a level par 36 for the final nine. The resulting 73 less his seven handicap gave Kenny his net 66. Richard Elliott matched Kenny’s score of 66 but lost out on countback to get third spot.

Richard’s birdies both came on the outward nine with threes at three and eight. His triple bogey seven at thirteen did not help in the tie break at all but a net 66 is still good shooting.

CHRIS TOPS IN HOLMES CUP

Thirteen handicapper Chris Millen topped this weeks Holmes Cup scoring 38 points. Chris opened and closed the front nine with double bogies but still logged 17 points. His back nine started with two more of them but he recovered well to slip in consecutive birdie threes at thirteen and fourteen to boost the back nine tally to 21 and pip Huey Cup winner Matt Colgan by one point.

Matt scored 37 off his 17 handicap, 17 out and 20 back, for second place.

ALANA TOPS IN LIFEBOAT SPOON

Lady Captain Alana Wallace played a leading role by winning the Lifeboat Spoon at Bushfoot GC. She gathered 37 points off her handicap of 16 to win by a single point. !9 points had been logged for the outward nine and after 13 Alana was scoring well Fourteen was a potential disaster where no points were scored but She is not Lady Captain for nothing. Ten points were taken from the closing four holes to get to 37 and pip Sharon Scott to the trophy.

Sharon plays off 18, I should say she plays well off 18 as, even with blanking the ninth she had 18 points logged at the turn. Another 18 came from the inward nine with just one double bogey in that. Caroline McKendry took third place jus a single point back on 36. Maureen Pentland got the only two of the day at the second hole
