The most recent Saturday sweep competition at Ballymena Golf Club was won by George McCrea.

Playing off a handicap allowance of 11, he posted a total of 34 points over the 13-hole course.

Having dropped a shot on the opening hole, George went through the first nine holes in two over par gross for 24 points.

He then birdied the 10th hole for four more points but he then dropped a shot on each of the next two holes and he completed his round with a par at the final hole.

Second place went to George Horner (9) who also returned a total of 34 points, having played the course in one over par gross.

His card was made up of 10 pars, a dropped shot on the fifth and 11th, with a birdie on the par three second.

Category one was won by Christopher Magee (2) who recorded a total of 31 points from a round of three under gross.

Magee scored six pars, five birdies plus a dropped shot apiece on the seventh and 12th.

Category two saw club Vice-Captain Henry Eagleson (7) head the scores where he recorded 31 points from a round of two over gross.

Henry scored six pars, three bogeys plus a double bogey on the 11th, but he managed to retrieve three of those dropped shots with birdies on the fourth, ninth and 10th.

Category three was won by Ryan Kenny who amassed 30 points from his 11 handicap.

Ryan had 20 points after nine holes- that despite a non-score on the par five third - which included birdies at the sixth and ninth for four points each, before playing the final five holes in level par gross.

Club treasurer Richard McCrea topped category four with 29 points from his 14 handicap, while Dermot McElroy (+3) carried away the best gross prize after recording a gross score of three under par, 47 shots, after dropping a shot at the first hole.
