Cairndhu on course in East Antrim League

Cairndhu hosted Letterkenny Golf Club in the first leg of the Ulster Cup final on Sunday (September 15).

High winds interspersed with heavy showers didn’t stop some very good golf being played by both sets of players.

However, it was the Cairndhu team who coped best with the conditions and they recorded a 6 - 1 win in the first leg.

Team captain Moorland Holmes will take his squad to Letterkenny GC on Sunday (September 22) for the return leg (tee-off 1pm).

The team wishes to thank the greens staff for their hard work which ensured that the course was not only playable, but in immaculate condition.

North Antrim Shield

In the North Antrim Shield Cairndhu hosted Bushfoot GC in their second pool match. A very strong performance from Lyle Robinson’s team saw them record a 19 - 1 result and they now await the outcome of the match between Ballycastle GC and Bushfoot GC to see if they progress into the finals.

East Antrim League

Cairndhu played Greenisland Golf Club in the first leg of the East Antrim League final on September 8 and continued their great home form throughout this competition, recording a 5 - 0 win.

Team Captain Kieran O’Donnell will take his men to Grennisland GC on Sunday (September 25) to play the return leg.

Latharna Shield

The annual match between Cairndhu Golf Club and Larne Golf Club was held on Sunday (September 15) and in very windy conditions at Islandmagee.

The Cairndhu men managed to defend the trophy and bring it back to the Coast Road.

As usual, the match was played in a great spirit and Cairndhu’s team has expressed its thanks to Larne Golf Club for their hospitality.
