Callum, Andrew, Peter and Robert win Scratch Cups

This is how it all panned out.

The Low Scratch Cup

This is for players with handicaps 0-5 and it is always very competitive.

Callum Barnes (5) won with a superb 66, three under par. He was 4 under par after 7 holes and never looked back.

Rory Leonard (+1) was runner-up, also with a 66. Rory had 6 birdies but bogeys at 10, 11 and 13 cost him dearly.

The best nett prize went to Paul Magennis (5) with a gross 67, nett 62. An eagle at the 2nd and 3 additional birdies were the highlights of Paul’s round.

The near misses were Kenny Stevenson 68, Conor Mulholland 72, Luke Woods 73, Jonathan Ward 73 and Eugene Weir 73.

The Bank Of Ireland Junior Scratch Cup

This is for those with handicaps 6-11. Andrew Quinn (6) was a clear winner with a level par round of 69. He had 4 birdies which included 2’s at the 15th and 18th.

Josh Crory (6) was runner-up with a 74 and the best nett prize was won by Joe McGivern (11) with a net 65.

The near misses in this section were Stuart Hunter 75, Paul McAleavey 75, Mark McCoy 75, Matthew Mallon 75 and Chris McAvoy 75.

I’mediate Scratch Cup

This cup is contested by the 12-17 handicappers.

The great Peter Hillen (12) was the winner with a gross 77. Peter was unhappy with his game recently but he obviously has got back on track.

Sydney Pepper (12) was runner-up with a 78 He didn’t have the best of starts but he had a blistering finish.

Seamus McGrath (17) took the best nett award with a nett 64. The near misses this time were Brian Grimes 79, Ruairi O’Neill 80, Tony Ewbanks 80, Robin Bond 80 and Jeffrey Brown 80.

The Sam Mc Millan High Scratch Cup

This is for golfers in the 18+ handicap bracket.

Robert Barnes (18) was the winner with a gross 82. Fair play to Robert, he started 6,8 and was 5 over par after two holes and then settled down to play great golf and win the cup. It was a big day for the Barnes household as son Callum won the Low Scratch Cup.

Andrew Hanlon (20) was second with an 87 and the best nett prize went to John Lennon (27) with a nett 62.

As always, there were several near misses. Mark Hodgen had an 87, Andy Murphy 87, Aidan Lavery 87, Mervyn Waddell 88 and Joseph Smith 88.
