Seven teams were involved with only one point separating them at the end. After the front nine the partnerships of Gary Boyd/David Bamford playing off a revised handicap of nine and Stuart Barker/alan Goodrich also playing off nine were vying for the lead one point ahead of Ciaran Doherty and Martin Laverty (17).

They were one point ahead of Norman Nicholl and Stephen Black (14).

The teams consisting of James Campbell/Aidan Donnelly (21), David Keys/Gary Jackson (9) and Owen Smith/Steven Penney (5) were another point behind.

Through thirteen the Boyd/ Bamford and Barker/Goodrich partnerships were still vying for the lead two points ahead of Campbell/Donnelly and Keys/Jackson pairings. Smith/Penney and Doherty/Laverty were a further point down followed by Nicholl and Black another point adrift.

Up the Grove and after a run of three pars from the Doherty/Laverty pairing saw them move up to lead by one point from Barker/Goodrich, Boyd/Bamford and an improving Nicholl and Black (par, birdie, bogey). Campbell/Donnelly and Keys/Jackson were another point behind followed by Smith and Penney a further point back.

With one to play Doherty/Laverty, Nicholl/Black and Boyd/Bamford were tied for the lead one point ahead of Barker/Goodrich and Keys/Jackson. Campbell/Donnelly and Smith/Penney were a further point away.

A bogey from Doherty and Laverty up the last would have been sufficient to win but they lost their chance of winning when they finished with a triple bogey and failed to score.

In an otherwise exciting finish Nicholl/Black (par, bogey), Boyd/Bamford (par, bogey), Keys/Jackson (two pars) and Campbell/Donnelly (bogey, par) all finished together and with a better back six Campbell and Donnelly took first place with Keys and Jackson (better back nine) second.

Third place went to Nicholl and Black with a better back nine.

Fourth place went to Boyd and Bamford.

One point behind the placed players came Doherty/Laverty (bogey, ‘ding’), Smith/Penney (two pars) and Barker/Goodrich (two bogeys).
