Captain’s drive in at Foyle GC

FOYLE Golf Club Captains Mr George Fitzpatrick and Mrs Faye McGrotty will hold their Drive-In on Friday, at 5.15pm followed by a 9 Hole Scramble for Ladies Gents and Juveniles with a shot gun start at 5.30pm following the golf there will be a prize presentation along with light refreshments, all club members playing are asked to enter their names on the sheet provided in the shop by Thursday when the draw for teams will take place.

While today (Wednesday) the Club’s Stableford competition takes centre stage, while a club sweep is down for decision on Saturday and another club stableford competition will be played for on Sunday.

Meanwhile conditions over the weekend proved very difficult with gusting winds of between 20-30 mph testing the skills of everyone who braved the elements at Faughan Valley.

Sunday was particularly challenging and both Cliff Caldwell and Paul Duffy deserve mention for keeping the ball low in the wind and carding such low scores in the most trying of circumstances.

Saturday’s stableford competition went to Alan Cheung (18) after he scored 42 points, second was Brendan Carton (22) who finished with 40 points and Conrad Carlin (16) with 39 points was third.

On Sunday the Stroke Play Competition went to Cliff Caldwell (20) after he finished with nett 66 and Paul Duffy (6) with a nett 69 was second.
