Carlin to face Somers in final

THE Faughan Valley presentation of Captains Day and Presidents Day dinner dance, will take place on Saturday, August 3, in the Drummond Hotel, Ballykelly.

The Competition is an Open Stableford Competition. The Northwest Pork Products 10 sheet challenge has now reached sheet 10, this Competition is also an Open Stableford which runs all week.

The City of Derry Building Society inter club Singles knockout competition has now reached the final, congratulations to Conrad Carlin and Scott Somers who will contest the final which must be played by 18th August.

The quarter-finals of the Club Championship sponsored by Mr David Forbes must be played by 28th July, whilst the City of Derry Building Society inter club Doubles knockout competition is also at the quarter final stage and must be played by 11th August.

Meanwhile the Foyle Ladies Open which was held last Thursday, proved to be highly successful with 110 ladies and gents turning out to compete on a course in fine condition.

Teenager Loren Smallwoods (18) from Faughan Valley took top honours returning a tremendous score of 44 points, the 16-year-old was four points clear of her nearest rival Maggie Logue (18) and Agnes McLaughlin (16), with 39 points was third.

The gross prize was won by Alison Elkin, with 29 gross points and visitor’s prize went to Buncrana’s Michelle Duffy (31), with 39 points. Pat Kyle (27) with 20 points won the front nine and Christine McCafferty (30) with 18 points won the back nine.
