The winners, with a score of 75, were Leighton Moore and Nigel McCauley.

The junior ‘Rookie Club’ have been perfecting their golf skills over the last year to play in a series of eight competitions over the last few months.

And, according to Mr Stewart, they have thoroughly enjoyed, being able to put their skills to good use.

“I must say that the standard was very high this year and I am looking forward to the ‘Rookie Club’ presentation evening later this month, where each member will be presented with awards for their achievements to date.

“The weather was very kind to our golfers over the two days. But, as we all know, weather doesn’t hold us golfers back!

“We rewarded all our golfers and their families with a barbecue and get-together at the end of the competition.”

Mr Stewart added: “I would like to extended my thanks to Ainsley McWilliams, Zoe Lindsay, Neil Parks, James Morton and the green staff at Carnfunnock for all of their help and support for this year.

“Many thanks also to all our competitors and families for a great few days.”
