The event, which tees off on July 26, has attracted even more sponsorship for its 2014 programme and has organised several competitions, including Gents, Ladies, Seniors, Mixed and Juniors, both in stableford and stroke formats. Popular Gents Scrambles and Ladies Scrambles have also been arranged.

Club captain Duncan Macleod said: “Carrickfergus is a real jewel in East Antrim, the course has recovered tremendously considering the wet weather we experienced earlier this year and our greens are the envy of most other clubs.

“The clubhouse has that continual buzz and visitors are made extremely welcome and can be assured of a successful week of competitive golf and the opportunity of making new friends, which, after all, is what the game of golf is about and Carrickfergus Golf Club is famous for.”

Almost all of the sponsors have returned, joined this year by NK Fencing Ltd. Open Week Co-ordinators, Isaac Jardine and Billy Gibson, are greatly appreciative of the sponsors’ increased support which allows the event to boast well over £5,000 in prizes together with daily fun prizes such as £100 for the first hole-in-one at the seventh.

Bookings can be made from July 5 through club pro James Orchin (9335 1803).
