Carrick golfers play for McCrum trophy

CARRICKFERGUS Golf Club reported an excellent turn out for the John McCrum Memorial Trophy last Saturday.

The winner of the trophy was Jim McIlwaine with 38 points; low handicap winners were Ken Mitchell with 37 points, Neil Scott with 36 points, Duncan MacLeod with 35 points and Rab McDowell with 35 points.

High handicap winners were Peter Agnew with 37 points, Graham Cully with 36 points, Brian Hamilton with 34 points and William Holden with 34 points.

Richard Moore won the Gross Prize with 31 points off scratch, while David Clarke won the Super Senior prize with 34 points.

In the Ulster Fourball competition Carrickfergus beat Helen’s Bay on holes up while the Ulster Cup team beat Portadown and will meet Letterkenny in the next round.

Meanwhile, lady golfers are reminded of the Dorothy Williams Memorial Open Stableford Competition on Tuesday May 29; entries are now being taken on 9335 1803.
