Cash boost to North West with PGA EuroPro Tournament

TOURISM in the North West of Ireland has received a 600,000 euro boost with the announcement that the Castle Dargan Golf, Hotel and Wellness Resort in County Sligo, will host a prestigious round of the PGA EuroPro Tour from Wednesday, June 2 until Friday, June 4.

Over 200 professional golfers from across Europe shall attend the three day tournament giving the whole of the North-West region an opportunity to showcase the excellent golf and facilities it has to offer.

Castle Dargan will also host a Pro-Am event on the Tuesday, June 1 and all the players will get their first glimpse of what awaits with a full practice day on Monday, May 31.

"The Castle Dargan Golf Resort and Northwest of Ireland is a great addition to the 2010 PGA EuroPro Tour schedule," said Danny Nickless, operations manager of the Tour. "We are always looking to expose the players to new and exciting courses and Castle Dargan fits the bill perfectly - a challenging course in a fantastic setting."

The PGA EuroPro Castle Dargan Tournament shall be broadcast various international Sports and Golf TV Channels, including Sky Sports, The Golf Channel in America, Canada and Japan it also goes out to Supersports and ESPN Star in Asia. Providing extensive coverage to the Sligo Course and the North West of Ireland across the world.

The PGA EuroPro tournament will also offer a welcome economic boost to the area providing up to 600,000 euro to the tourism sector in these demanding times.
