CAUSEWAY COAST GOLF LAUNCH MOBILE APP

THE oldest links golf tournament is moving with the times with the launch of a new smart-phone app.

The Causeway Coast Amateur Golf Tournament, which attracts golfers from all over the world to come and play four of the best golf courses here on the north coast - Royal Portrush - Valley Course, Castlerock, Portstewart and Ballycastle - celebrated its 45th anniversary this year.

For next year’s competition golfers though will be able to keep up dated with the latest scores, offers and events via the new app.

To celebrate the launch of the app tournament organisers are giving away £1,500 worth of golf for this year’s tournament - three free entries will be drawn at the end of January and one free entry per month thereafter.

Organisers are hoping the app will open up the door to an even wider world market.

“The prestigious tournament is held in the first week in June and played over some of the finest courses Ireland has to offer,” said one of the organisers Raymond Eakin.

“It is one of the oldest and best supported amateur competitions in Europe. The 2013 Tournament will run from June 3rd until the 7th and the entry fee is £200. Spaces are limited to 900 and there are no domestic/international quotas.
