But he had to rely on a better second nine to clinch overall victory from Trevor Hamill who recorded the same score.

Greer, playing off 11, played the first nine in two over gross having scored six pars, a bogey on the eighth after starting his round with a double bogey but against that, he birdied the seventh.

Into the back nine with a par followed by a bogey, he then went par, birdie, birdie, only to have two more bogeys but he managed to par the final two holes for a one over gross and a nett total of eight under.

Second nett was Trevor Hamill who, also off 11, had a front nine of level par followed by a back nine of three over gross which left him with a nett 60.

Third nett went to Ferguson McKelvey (10) who returned the best nett 62 on a better second nine from Jake Carson,

Stephen Surgenor Snr, with an allowance of 13, returned equal nines of 38 which gave him a nett total of 63 and again, on a better last six holes from George B McCrea, with a birdie at the final hole proving a decisive boost for Surgenor.
