Christine recovers to win in style

The ladies at Lurgan did well to return some good scores on Tuesday especially as many players were caught in thunderstorms at lunchtime.

The winner, and no stranger to being in the prizes, was Christine Hagan with 38 pts. Christine must have thought it wasn’t going to be her day when she had a ding at the first hole but fortunately there were better things to come.

A birdie 2 at the 8th kick started her round and she toured the last 11 holes in just 2 over par. A fine round Christine and a worthy winner.

The gross prize went to Cara Murphy with 25 gross pts. Cara is really coming into form and it must only be a matter of time before the scores come in to give her a well earned cut in her handicap.

She made her score by touring the last 9 holes in just 2 over par the highlight being a birdie 3 at the 16th.

Section one went to May Baxter who also had 38pts and was just beaten for the main prize on the better back 9. May had a very hot start to the season and it’s great to see her form returning again, no doubt spurred on by playing partners Sheena and Georgie.

All the prize winners this week are enjoying a good season and the section two winner Anette Kilbinger is one of these. Anette had 37 pts and will also enjoy the bonus of lifting some twos money for her two at 17.

Pat Carville, the hard working minute secretary, won section three with 35 pts. The 9 hole winner was Sally Hayes.

The ladies had a great first leg Junior Cup result, away from home on Sunday, when they defeated Kirkistown 3 1/2 to 1 1/2. Sian Mulholland, Cara Murphy and Christine Hagan all enjoyed wins with Bronagh McKavanagh securing a half.
