Closures causes headaches

The adverse weather and course closures gave the ladies match and handicap committee headaches this week but after lengthy consideration it was decided that in the winter individual competition there wouldn’t be a minimum entry required for the competition to be valid.

Fiona Cummins took advantage of the small field to win section one with 16 pts. Fiona is under serious pressure from everyone else in her household so she will be very grateful to get a turn in the prizes herself.

Section two went to Eileen McCann with a fine 21 pts recorded before the course was shortened to temporary greens, so a very impressive score from Eileen. With husband Jim recording some great wins recently Eileen has certainly made sure that she’s not to be outdone.

Section three went to Roisin Anderson with 17 pts. Roisin played on Friday afternoon after the worst of the rain so her prize is certainly just reward for braving the conditions.

As the team prize is a cumulative prize, played for over eight weeks, match and handicap felt it would be unfair to award team points this week as some teams were unable to field any players. However next week the teams will be playing for double points (winning team will get 12 points) so all players are encouraged to get out and see if they can boost their team’s score. There will be a runners up team prize this year so there’s everything still to play for in the teams.
