ClubClassic’s starttoday Foyle

THE Ladbrokes sponsored Wednesday Open Stableford competition had an excellent entry with close to 100 competitors taking to the pristine Ballyarnett fairways.

On the day scoring was difficult because of the breeze but Kevin McDermott (18) made light of the conditions to post a very good winning score of 43 points, Martin Tracey (13) finished in second on 41 points with Ballyliffin visitor Mathew Concannon (8) one point further adrift in third place.

The gross prize went to Shane Bonnar after a break of tie finish when he scored 34 points, the back nine was claimed by Shaun Bradley (17) with 22 points and the Ladies nine hole competition was won by Sheila McLaughlin (33) after she scored 18 points.

This week’s competition starts with the Club Classic on Saturday and Sunday. Members are asked to see Poster on Club Notice board for all details.

The 2013 Over 50’s competitions and senior golfer of the year gets underway on Monday, June 4 (See notice for further details).

Meanwhile past Redcastle Captain Willie McClelland claimed first prize in the Point Lodge Open last weekend at Redcastle Golf Club.

Willie scored a fine 41 points for first prize with John Anthony Doherty scoring 39 points to claim second and Kevin McLaughlin finished third with 38 points.

Gross prize went to Alan O’Bryan with 25 gross points, Jim Burns claimed the front nine with 21 points and the back nine went to Dan Joe McLaughlin with 20 points.

Members are reminded that this weekend’s Club confined competition and last card on Sunday, is at 2pm.
