Coaching classes starting at Roe Park

The season is certainly not over at Roe Park, despite the drop in temperature the resort is still as busy as ever as golfers come from all over to enjoy the superb course conditions.

The start of the ‘Autumn Pairs’ competition last week has kept the members committed to at least six more weeks of intense competition.

Some fantastic prizes have been provided by sponsors Eglinton Construction and Property. Members certainly showed their enthusiasm with big numbers entering the weeks’ competitions.

Players were keen to get their best card of the week and put that together with their partners for a combined total which would hopefully see them up the table.

First up was a Club Stableford on Thursday which was played in chilly, windy conditions. The senior members of the club dominated the top places with Andy Dunn leading the way, keeping his good form going of late to secure the win with an excellent round scoring 39 hard fought points. Bernie Weavers, also playing very well lately claimed second place with 38 points beating Phillip McKeever on count back into third spot also with 38.

Saturday’s Club Stableford was won by junior member Conor McKay who scored a superb 41 points. Second place was won by John Harron who scored 40 points. Gavin Logue also had 40 points but had to settle for third spot on count back. The best gross score was won by Eamon Barkley.

Resident PGA Professional Michael McCrudden will be offering various coaching classes at the Driving Range and Golf Academy. Class sizes will be limited and there will be classes available for Ladies, Juniors and Adult Beginners held on a Wednesday. There will also be a Junior coaching course and an Improvers course for adults aiming to improve their handicap held on Saturdays. Wednesdays’ classes will run from 15th October for five weeks and Saturdays’ classes will run from 18th October for six weeks.
