SEAN COYLE (14) made light of his recent handicap reduction to record a winning 34 points in Sunday’s competition and thus recording a hat-trick of victories in this season’s competitions at Prehen.

Two birdies were the highlights of his round and perhaps the handicap committee may have to reconsider their position.

Second place was taken by the in form Liam McCafferty (16) who also scored 34 points (over 13 holes) only losing out on the last three holes courtesy of the winner’s birdie two at the “Quarry”. Clive Brolly (9) was third with 33 points and three players, Jim McDaid (13), Brendan Sands (15) and Dermot Hegarty (16) scored 32 points to take 4th, 5th and 6th places respectively on a count back.

While Bert Glackin (6) 23 points break of tie and John Flynn (7) 23 points break of tie were best of the day in the consolation 9 hole competition on Saturday.

While Turkey winners can collect their Turkey’s on Sunday from 12noon.

Brian Stanford (19) was last to return his card at Prehen in the weekly Thursday Society (Christmas Hamper) outing but when the cards were checked he had taken first place thanks to a very impressive 33 points for the 13 holes played.

Robin McClay (17) matched that score but had to settle for second place on the count back and Noel O Connell (17) finished in third place with 32 points, the best of several scores on that mark.

Prizes for the above competition will be presented at the Society’s party to be held this coming Friday.

Names of those Society members who want to attend the party which includes a complimentary meal should be given to the club Pro Sam Smallwoods. All other prize-winners this season should also attend.
