David Kirk handles the pressure to clean up at Rockmount

The forecast rain stayed away from Rockmount on Saturday 5 July, making playing conditions favourable for good scoring.

Rockmount member Michael Stewart sponsored the stroke competition through his company Michael Stewart Pressure Washers.

Nearly two hundred competitors entered the competition and top of the tree was David Kirk who, playing off 21, scored a nett 68.

Second place went to Adam Foreman with a nett score of 69. Adam had the best gross score on the day despite starting with a double bogey six at the first hole. A birdie at the fourth brought him back to one over par and two further birdies at the eighth and tenth either side of a bogey at nine left him on level par, which he maintained for the rest of the round to shoot 72.

The low section (0 – 11) was won by Ryan Wilson (six) with a nett score of 70. The middle section (12 – 18) was won by Richard James Parkinson (15) with a nett 69. The high section (19 – 28) was won by a past Captain Jim Murphy (21) also with a nett score of 69.

The gross prize went to Warren Burnside (04) with a four over par round of 76. Warren had one double bogey at the eighth and bogies at the second, fourth, seventh and 16th as well as two birdies at the first and thirteenth.

Warren went out in 41 and returned with a level par 35 for his score of 76.
