David the winner by two shots at Silverwood

He had a great front nine of 35 with two birdies, two bogeys and five pars. His back nine cooled off somewhat with only four pars, one double bogey and four single bogeys, but this was more than enough to win by two clear shots.

In second place was Paul Gilmore with a nett 67, Paul had a front nine of 38 with one double bogey, one single bogey and seven pars and a great back nine of one under 36 that included two birdies, one bogey and six pars to claim second place on a better back nine.

Third place went to Robert Blevins with a net 67, he had a front nine of 37 with two birdies, two double bogeys and five pars. His back nine of 38 was very consistent with only one bogey and eight pars, to pick up yet another prize this year.

The gross prize went to Eugene McKeever Jnr with an excellent two under gross 70. He had a front nine of 34 with three birdies, two bogeys and four pars. His back nine of 36 contained another two birdies, one bogey and six pars at his remaining holes to pick up another gross prize.

Fourth place went to inform player Colin Thompson with a nett 67, he had a one under par round of 71 with three birdies, two bogeys and four pars. His back nine of 37 had one birdie, one bogey and seven pars.

Tony Beeton with a nett 68 was fifth, he had a front nine of 40 with five bogeys and four pars and a back nine of 37 with nine straight pars.

The senior prize was collected by Brian Brady with a nett 69. The junior prize was won by Jack Doyle with a nett 73.

Section prizes:0-12 Martin Craig nett 68; 13-18 Brendan Lappin nett 69; 19-28 Paul Gorman nett 68.

The Senior’s recently had their last outing of the season at the Annesley course at RCD in Newcastle. The golf varied considerably and while the best score of the day was an excellent 43 points from club captain Peter Graham and David Mills, the total for the team was a disappointing 111 points Unfortunately, from a highly promising position at one stage, the team finished in sixth spot.
