David’s team in top form

THE competition at Silverwood on Saturday was a team event Teachers Scramble.

The winning team with a score of 54.2 was David Carville, David Mason, Richard McKee and anchor man and low man of the group Laurence O’ Connor.

David Mason got the team off to a flying start with a big drive over the river to bring the par 5 first into range for their first birdie. This was followed by six more at the 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th and 9th. This was to continue through the back nine with birdies at the 10th, 11th, 12th then 16 and 17 and 18 to leave them on 12 under and good enough to take top spot. Second place went to the first group off the tee, Thomas Smyth, Owen Callaghan, Martin McCann and Martin O’Hagan.

Junior boys, as they liked to be called, got off to a good start with a birdie but didn’t take advantage at the short par 4 fourth recording only a par. This cost them the top spot, they had five birdies on the front nine and seven on the back nine for a score of 55.1, just not enought in the end.
